Ondeh-ondeh

I always enjoy eating ondeh-ondeh. It is not my overly-favorite kuih, but I don't dislike the taste either. Ondeh-ondeh is made from sweet potato or glutinous rice flour and it is green in color (traditional one is green). My mom and I too made ondeh-ondeh today. Firstly, steam some sweet potato then mashed them. Next, add some glutinous rice flour and mix them. Add some water and pandan juice (the juice is obtained from grinding pandan leaves using mortar and pestle). Mix them well and there you go, the ondeh-ondeh dough! Take a small amount of dough and fill it with some chopped gula melaka or palm sugar. Roll into round shape and drop them into a pot of boiling water. Repeat the steps with the dough. When you see them floating on the surface of water, you know it is the time you should take them out and coat them in fresh grated coconut. I know I sounded like I'm doing some sort of school experiment report with "repeat the steps". I guess, I'm stressed out. haha.

Jjang!! this is what our version of ondeh-ondeh looked like. ^^

Let me describe what they taste like. the palm sugar that's in it just "bursts" in your mouth when you take a bite. Imagine the sweet and delicious sugar melts in your mouth. You get that feeling?? haha.
