Malacca Trip

Hello readers!

Today I'm back with another fun post about my last trip to Malacca with my friends; Jia Min, Shu Xian and Sammy! As always, travelling has been fun and exciting! I bet nobody would have treated travel as a chore anyway lol

Back to my story, the four of us reached Malacca last Thursday. And not being local from there certainly force us to be more adventurous. We had to ask the people around for directions and stuff. Luckily the people there are helpful and friendly enough.

So after we had a little rest at our hotel room, we went out to fill our hungry stomach. We also went sightseeing around the area. It was all fun but the weather was so sunny. And there's me being foolish for not applying sunscreen o_O

Curry Laksa, "yong tau foo" and durian cendol.

One-bite durian puffs.

Sammy attempting to eat the puff.

Chu~ Chu~!!

Jia Min's with the bull.

Coconut Tom Yum @Geographer Cafe.
(It looks unique but tastes like normal Tom Yum anyway)

The cucumber juice that Shu Xian adores!

Yes, I'm drumming the coconut.

That's Shu Xian poking Jia Min's face lol

The " I'm ready " pose.

After all that eating and walking around, we decided to go back to the hotel room to rest for an hour or so before heading out for dinner. For dinner, we tried out the famous clams, aka "si ham" in Chinese. We also ate sauce-drizzled beancurd. These dishes can be found at the back alley in Jalan Bunga Raya.

Clams are definitely not my love, so I can't really judge those.
Nonetheless, I like the sauce-drizzled beancurd.

Then we discovered this small shop which sells various discs, ranging from the old fashioned cassette tape and record plate to the modern compact discs. I definitely feel like walking through memory lane when I first walked into the tiny shop. I remember how I used to listen to cassette tape through our old radio :)

The shop itself looks like a museum.

We also bought "you tiao", fried radish cake and fried oyster for supper.

The supper concludes our first day in Malacca. The next day, we slept in for a bit more. By the time we finished getting ready, it was time to have our brunch. So, we decided to try out the famous Nyonya food. Mainly because many people talk good thing about the restaurant.

Some selca for the day (= =)

The signature Nyonya pineapple juice that taste exactly like those canned ones.

To our disappointment, the Nyonya food doesn't taste that yummy :(

Beaded shoes.

Since the Nyonya food didn't do justice to our taste buds, we decided to try out Dutch food instead. We found "Orang Belanda Art Cafe" located at Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock. We really glad that we found this cafe because it has a nice ambience besides tasty food and beverages. The waiter was friendly to us too :)

Cowgirl.

Chilling at Dutch Cafe.

See any resemblance?

Trip buddies!

Arghh~!!

Ice cream crepe.

Summer smoothie: Peach, banana, strawberry.

Dutch coffee.

Our next destination was Mahkota Parade. We wanted to try Nadeje layered crepe. We walked to Mahkota Parade ON FOOT, and by on foot, I meant by walking! Never again. I am exhausted from all the walking under the hot sun. Although I brought my umbrella, I still feel meh!

Sweet Shu Xian and Jia Min.

Four of us ^_^

Shading King Dino with umbrellas.

Rawr!!

Cranberries and guava drinks.

The delicious layered crepe.

Next, we went to this historical building, namely St. Paul Church. So basically it was a church before being restructured into what we saw today. Inside, we can see some Portuguese tombstones which must have aged at least half a century.

Appreciating the historical building.
BANG!

BANG!!

BANG!!!

BANG!!!!

After that, we headed back to our hotel to rest our tired souls. Around 7pm, we finally went to the night market in Jonker Street. We're excited to try the gourmet there! At the market, we bought some food and ate them as we walk. That continues on and on. Now I think about it, we must have tried at least 10 different street food! What a feast!!

Since we ate while we walked, we can only captured these remaining dishes in the photo. The above food includes Cendol, char kway tiao, curry fishballs, takoyaki (in the box) and popiah. Other food that we ate includes dried cuttlefish, egg muffin with crab meat and Taiwanese sausage, egg balls, flavored Taiwanese sausages and coconut shake.

Around 10 or 11pm, we went to Discovery cafe to enjoy some live band. My three friends ordered alcoholic drinks except me. I ordered refreshing juice instead since I'm still unable to adapt myself into drinking alcohol. FYI, I can only handle shandy into my system. Up till now, I am a teetotaler unless drinking shandy counts as drinking beer lol.

Ever wonder why four girls can eat so much in one day? Well, that remains a secret lol. But really, we just share everything and anything! In that way, we can try more food and enjoy them without straining our stomach. Although I think the four of us must have started our detox diet since we went back from the fattening trip :D
